Training Update…

Training has now increased to 3 x 3 mile runs per week with a longer run at weekends (1 x 5 mile).

My progress is being hampered by the walk/run technique and I need to concentrate on completing 3.2 miles without stopping in order to be in with a good time for my first 5k run in August.

Did a 4 mile run yesterday in 50 mins (12.5 min/miles) so neeed to increase pace.  I think a bit of speedwork/interval training is required in order to boost stamina and endurance.

I am slowly becoming unconvinced by my Nike+ kit and feel that it may not be that accurate !  Roll on Christmas, when Santa should be delivering me a Garmin 405 GPS Watch ;)

Possible Golden Bond Place !

I recently received an email from the charity, Children with Leukaemia (http://leukaemia.org) thanking me for my Golden Bond application.  They have confirmed that they are pleased to confirm that they are “considering” me for a place.

They have advised that an information pack will be sent over the next couple of weeks…..so watch this space…I will update the blog if indeed I am successful !

I am planning on do a 5 mile run tonight and will post the details once done… ;)

I am hoping to post a 5 mile run this weekend.  I will probably do a run/walk to increase endurance and stamina and will upload the nikeplus run once completed.

Please check our the nutrition plans above…they help me work out whats good and whats bad !

I am not progressing well with the 50 mile challenge that needs to be complete by 26th June so I need to make more effort to longer runs to make up the distance….will track progress here.

Camperdown Park, Dundee 5k Run

Yesterday, I stumped up the courage to enter the 5k Fun Run at Dundee on 16th August 2009….I am looking for a good time so will be concentrating on increasing my pace over the next four weeks.  Results will be published here ;)

Just synced a 2.48 mile run and have entered just myself on a Nike+ Challenge to run 50 miles in one month…

I will update the blog with the training & nutritional plans that I will be using to get up to Marathon Runner status very soon…so please check back ;)

4.81 Miles – New PB !

Yesterday was my best run in three weeks (4.81 miles) however this is still not even a quarter of the distance required over a marathon.  I guess the real training starts here !

Marathon Effort is Born !

MarathonEffort.com is intended to be a diary of events (hopefully!) leading up to the very 1st 2010 Virgin London Marathon.

After watching the last Flora London Marathon some 3 weeks ago, my Wife and I decided to make it our target for next year.

We are new to running however, in just three weeks, we have invested in new trainers and I have already managed to complete two 3 mile run/walks.
